Returns, Cancellations, Refunds & Damages

Every full wallpaper order from The Wallpaper Edit is printed and cut specifically for your order in your selected design, colourway, wallpaper material, panel length and quantity.

Full wallpaper orders are made specifically for each customer and are not normally eligible for change-of-mind returns or exchanges. I do, however, offer a 2-hour cancellation window where production has not begun.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Cancellations

If you change your mind after ordering, please contact me within 2 hours of placing your order.

If your wallpaper has not yet been released into production, I can cancel and refund the order.

After this time, cancellation cannot be guaranteed because your order may already have entered production.

If you ordered full rolls but decide you would prefer to see a sample first, please contact me within this 2-hour period. If production has not begun, I can cancel and refund the roll order so you can place a sample order instead.

Please order a sample before full rolls

I strongly recommend ordering a physical sample before purchasing full wallpaper panels or rolls.

Colours shown online are a best representation only. Screens are backlit and vary in brightness, colour settings and calibration. Natural and artificial lighting and surrounding colours can also influence how a colour appears in your room.

The wallpaper material itself can affect the finished colour. Each material has its own base tone, texture and surface, so the same artwork may appear subtly warmer, cooler, softer or brighter when printed on different materials.

For the best indication of the finished result, please order your sample in the same wallpaper material you intend to purchase.

A physical sample allows you to check:

  • overall colour and undertone in your own lighting

  • pattern scale

  • wallpaper texture and finish

  • how your chosen material affects the printed appearance

  • adhesion and removal when choosing Peel & Stick

An approved physical sample in your chosen wallpaper material is used as the reference when assessing colour accuracy.

Colour-related reprints are assessed against that physical sample rather than against how the design appeared on a phone, tablet or computer screen.

If no physical sample was purchased before the full order, a difference between the printed wallpaper and how the colour appeared on a screen does not, by itself, establish a printing error.

This does not affect your rights if the wallpaper is genuinely faulty, incorrectly produced or materially different from the product ordered.

Print-run colour variation

Wallpaper is produced in print batches.

A slight shade difference between separate print runs is normal within wallpaper production. For this reason, please order all panels or rolls required for the same installation at the same time.

A previously purchased sample provides a useful reference for the overall colour and tone, but because the sample and full order are produced in separate print runs, a small shade variation may occur.

If the overall colour or tone of your full order appears materially different from an approved sample in the same wallpaper material, please contact me before cutting or installing the wallpaper so I can investigate.

Change-of-mind returns

Because full wallpaper orders are printed and cut specifically for each individual order, The Wallpaper Edit does not normally accept change-of-mind returns, exchanges or refunds because you:

  • change your mind

  • no longer require the wallpaper

  • decide you do not like the colour, scale or texture

  • ordered the wrong quantity or panel length

  • measured your wall incorrectly

  • selected the wrong wallpaper material

  • expected the printed colour to match the appearance of a digital screen

Mandatory consumer rights are not affected by this policy.

European Union and United Kingdom customers
Made-to-order wallpaper and right of withdrawal

Full wallpaper orders are not pre-manufactured or held as finished stock. Nothing exists as a finished wallpaper product until an order is placed.

Each order is produced only after the customer has selected the design, colourway, wallpaper material, panel length(s) and quantity required for their individual project. The selected design is then printed onto the chosen material and the required panels are printed and cut specifically for that order.

Article 2(4) of EU Directive 2011/83/EU defines goods made to the consumer's specifications as “non-prefabricated goods made on the basis of an individual choice of or decision by the consumer.”

Article 16(c) excludes goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised from the standard right of withdrawal.

On this basis, The Wallpaper Edit treats full wallpaper orders as goods made to the consumer's specifications and therefore exempt from the standard right of withdrawal for change of mind under Article 16(c).

UK consumer law similarly provides an exception to the standard cancellation right for goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised. For the reasons outlined above, The Wallpaper Edit also treats full wallpaper orders as goods made to the customer's specifications for this purpose.

Mandatory consumer rights are not affected. Where applicable law or a competent authority determines that a statutory cancellation, withdrawal, return or refund right applies to a particular purchase, that right will be honoured in accordance with the applicable law.

Please contact The Wallpaper Edit before sending any item back so that the appropriate instructions can be provided.

Damaged, faulty or incorrectly produced wallpaper

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, misprinted or different from what you ordered, please contact me as soon as possible.

For the quickest assessment, please provide:

  • clear photographs showing the issue

  • photographs of the affected wallpaper

  • a photograph of the shipping label

  • photographs of the external and internal packaging where transit damage is involved

A short video is also preferred where practical and may be requested in addition to photographs where it would help verify or properly assess the issue.

Please retain the wallpaper and packaging while the matter is being investigated.

Where an issue is visible before installation, please do not cut, trim, paste or install the wallpaper until you have contacted me.

I may ask my production partner to review the artwork file, production records or printing details to help determine what has occurred.

Where a genuine production fault, incorrect order, transit damage or other failure covered by applicable consumer law is established, an appropriate remedy may include a replacement, reprint, refund or other resolution depending on the circumstances and your statutory rights.

The request that you contact me promptly and provide supporting photographs or video does not limit statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Colour concerns

Colour can be affected by screens, lighting, surrounding décor and the wallpaper substrate.

A colour appearing different in your room from how it appeared on a digital screen is not, by itself, evidence of a printing fault.

Where a physical sample in the same wallpaper material was approved before ordering, that sample provides the reference for assessing the overall colour and tone, allowing for normal minor variation between separate print runs.

If you believe your full order is materially different in overall colour or tone from your approved physical sample, please contact me before installation.

Where possible, please provide photographs of the sample and full wallpaper together under the same lighting conditions. A short video may also be requested where it would assist with assessment.

I will then investigate the issue with my production partner where appropriate.

Check your wallpaper before installation

Please inspect your order before installation.

Check that:

  • the design and colourway are correct

  • the wallpaper material is correct

  • the panel lengths and quantity match your order

  • there is no visible printing or transit damage

  • where you purchased a sample, the overall colour and tone are consistent with your approved sample, allowing for normal minor print-run variation

If anything appears materially wrong, please contact me before cutting or installing the wallpaper.

Installing wallpaper where an issue was already visible may affect our ability to assess its original condition, although nothing in this policy limits statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.

Measurements and ordering quantities

It is the customer's responsibility to measure the installation area accurately and order sufficient wallpaper.

Wallpaper should include an appropriate allowance for trimming because walls, ceilings and floors may not be perfectly straight, square or level.

If you ask The Wallpaper Edit for help estimating the amount of wallpaper required, any quantity recommendation provided is our best estimate based on the measurements, photographs and room information you give us. It is not a guarantee of the exact quantity required for installation.

The final amount of wallpaper needed can be affected by factors including:

  • walls, ceilings or floors that are uneven or out of square

  • windows, doors, alcoves, angles and other architectural features

  • the design's pattern repeat and the amount required for pattern matching

  • trimming and installation allowances

  • how individual panels fall across the wall

  • the installer's preferred installation method and wastage allowance

These factors may mean additional wallpaper is required or that some wallpaper is left over after installation.

I am always happy to help estimate quantities, but I recommend confirming your final measurements and required quantity with your wallpaper installer before ordering.

Please order all wallpaper required for the same installation together. Additional panels ordered later will be produced in a separate print run and may have a slight shade variation.

Incorrect measurements, ordering too little or too much wallpaper, or selecting the wrong panel length are not considered manufacturing faults.

Installation, wall preparation and removal

Wallpaper performance depends on appropriate wall preparation, surface condition, installation method and environmental conditions.

Please follow the installation instructions supplied with your order and available on The Wallpaper Edit website.

The Wallpaper Edit is not responsible for installation problems or wall damage caused by matters outside the product itself, including:

  • unsuitable or unstable wall surfaces

  • fresh paint that has not fully cured

  • inadequate cleaning or preparation

  • moisture, mould or persistent humidity

  • incorrect adhesives or installation methods

  • installation contrary to supplied instructions

  • damage caused while trimming or installing

  • damage to walls or painted surfaces during removal where the wallpaper itself is not faulty

For Peel & Stick wallpaper, testing a sample on the intended wall surface before purchasing full rolls is strongly recommended.

Nothing in this section excludes responsibility where applicable consumer law provides otherwise.

Questions?

If you are unsure about colour, wallpaper material, panel size, measurements, quantities or which sample material to choose, please contact me before ordering.

I strongly recommend ordering a physical sample in the same wallpaper material you intend to purchase before committing to full rolls. I’m always happy to help you choose the most suitable option for your project.
